xooguru.com is a new shopping wiki powered by the superb MediaWiki engine. Our aim is to build up the ultimate resource for online shoppers we need your help and we want to pay you for it.
Are you well travelled and know the best places to go for a weekend break? Maybe you are a computer expert and have some tips for people buying a new PC. Or maybe you have just bought a new book and want to tell the world how good, or bad it is. Everyone knows something which will be useful to others so please add that information to our wiki.
If you are new to wikis and the way they work, we suggest you read the What Is A Wiki? page of the Wikipedia website. You should also read the Help section of the MediaWiki website.
Adding to xooguru.com can make you money.
We make money through sponsors, pay per click adverts and affiliate schemes. We give 50% of our profits to our contributors. For a full explanation of this, see our Make Money Page.
Firstly before you can add a new page or edit a existing one you must register and be logged in. This is all free and all that is required is a username and valid email address. Please make sure your email address is valid because we will use this to pay you any share of the profits.
We will never give out your email address to any third parties.
We have split our entries into 4 main sections Items, Merchants, Articles and Virtual Stores. The Items section is for entries relating to a specific product or service, for example a book, a car or a telephone. The Merchants section should be used when discussing a specific merchant such as a broadband provider or supermarket. The Articles section is for more general entries such as Top European Holiday Destinations or How To Find The Best Deals On A New Mortgage. For more information on the fourth section, virtual stores look at Virtual Stores below.
These sections are not black and white and there may be some entries which could go in either, but please chose the one you think most suitable.
We have also decided to split all entries into the following categories:
When you add a new Item or Article be sure to include the correct template at the bottom of the page: Template:Item, Template:Merchant or Template:Article. Also link it to the appropriate category or categories. If you are familiar with creating and editing MediaWiki entries, you may already know how to do this. If you are not familiar with this then view the Help section for the basics on creating and editing entries.
Virtual stores work a bit differently to normal entries. For more information on what a virtual store is, see the Merchants - Virtual Stores page.
You can set your virtual store page up anyway you want, unlike items, merchants and articles, virtual stores are not currently split up into categories. The only thing you need to add to the bottom of the page is the virtual stores template by adding the code {{Template:Virtual_Stores}} to the bottom of the page.
Please view the Help page for help on writing an entry.
